Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has expressed his concern at the Welsh Government's plans to scrap the Pembrokeshire Town Rider Scheme. Local AM Paul Davies said: "I am very concerned that the Welsh Government has decided to cease funding for the Community Transport Concessionary Fares' Initiative, which will force the collapse of Pembrokeshire's much valued Town Rider service. This service provides an important lifeline for vulnerable people in Pembrokeshire to access vital local amenities and services." He added: "It has to be remembered that it is not only passengers that speak so highly of the service. In 2008, the independent consultants, Capita Symonds evaluated the initiative and they also concluded it was a very valuable scheme. For my part, I have written to Carl Sargeant AM, the Minister for Local Government and Communities, to lobby for the much valued service to continue and to highlight the importance of the service for people in Pembrokeshire. I will be also looking to raise this issue on the floor of the Assembly when the opportunity arises.
