Preseli Pembrokeshire politicians, Paul Davies AM and Stephen Crabb MP, are publically supporting the petition for the Fishguard Town Centre Improvement Scheme. The petition calls for assistance from the National Assembly for Wales to improve Fishguard's pavements and roads. Many of Fishguard's pavements are currently a major health and safety risk particularly for the town's older and less abled residents and it is hoped that the investment will enhance the safety and attractiveness of the town's shopping centre.

Paul Davies said, "I am delighted to sign the petition to show my support for the Fishguard Town Centre Improvement Scheme. It is essential that pedestrians should be able to shop safely and at present, many of the roads and pavements in the town centre are not fit for purpose."

"I now look forward to working with the Fishguard Town Centre campaign in the future as it develops and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign the petition on the National Assembly website. For my part, I will continue to raise this issue with the Minister. Last year, I raised the issue of regenerating town centres in Pembrokeshire and I will continue to push for Fishguard to become one of the next strategic regeneration areas in Wales."

Following his visit Stephen Crabb MP said, "I am very pleased to support the petition which has been launched at a time when the town centre is faced with many challenges. Investment from the Welsh Government and Pembrokeshire County Council would make a real difference to the town."

"I hope that the petition will be successful in highlighting the needs of the town to the Welsh Government. I will continue to push for improvements to Fishguard at every opportunity. Fishguard has a strong community which received positive news last year with the marina and port development proposals being outlined which I am sure will help drive investment and confidence in the area."
