Local AM Paul Davies said: "I am very concerned to hear that Hywel Dda health board is considering cutting non-urgent surgery in the New Year. At a time when the local health board is facing a £4m deficit, cutting surgery will only increase waiting lists and drive up costs, which could be avoidable." He added: "The Welsh Labour Government has decided to cut expenditure on health by 6.6% and sadly, health boards in Wales now face a potential shortfall of nearly £50m .Cutting this budget, at a time when waiting time targets are already being missed and vacancies are not being filled is simply deplorable. I will continue to monitor the health board's plans for Withybush hospital very closely and bring this to the Assembly Chamber at every available opportunity."
