Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire Paul Davies said, "This report has highlighted a number of concerns surrounding cost increases and delays for major trunk road projects across Wales. While projects of this nature incur a number of risks, it is essential that the Welsh Assembly Government is proactive in considering all aspects of these projects when planning and financing them." "The Welsh Assembly Government must make sure that the people of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire receive the best possible value for money from trunk road projects such as the A40 project. It is very worrying that the cost to improve this part of the road has cost substantially more than anticipated. It is also very disappointing that the calls to dual the A40 into Pembrokeshire fell on deaf ears."
