Paul Davies Supports New YFC Promotional Video

Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting Pembrokeshire YFC’s new promotional video “Capture Your County” to encourage more young people to join the Young Farmers movement. Each county across Wales is being asked to create a video to promote their own YFC activities and a shortlist of four videos will then be hosted on the Farmers Guardian website for a public vote, which will count as part of the overall judging process.

Mr Davies said, "I’m delighted to support Pembrokeshire YFC, who have certainly captured our County and created a fantastic promotional video. I very much hope the people of Pembrokeshire click on to YouTube and help better their chances of winning the national competition. It’s great to see our young farmers having fun, showing the merits of the YFC movement to many young people across the County.”

Paul Davies Encourages All to Take Part in Health Survey

Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is encouraging everyone across Pembrokeshire to have their say on the current arrangement for maternity, neonatal and paediatric services at Withybush and Glangwili hospitals. The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health is conducting a review of Hywel Dda’s services and plans to report on their findings in September.

Mr Davies said, "This is a golden opportunity for people in Pembrokeshire to stand up and be heard. The controversial decisions to close the Special Care Baby Unit and downgrade paediatric services at Withybush Hospital have had a detrimental effect on service provision and this is a chance to make sure the health board fully understands that. My postbag is filled with correspondence from families across the County who have been forced to travel to Glangwili and their experiences certainly haven’t been good ones. Now it’s time to make that known.”

Paul Davies Warns About Milk Price Cut

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is expressing his concern for dairy farmers following NFU warnings of a milk price ‘nightmare’, as First Milk introduces a cut of one pence per litre less for many farmers this month.

Mr Davies said, “This is deeply worrying news for dairy farmers in Pembrokeshire, and indeed the whole of Wales who will now be receiving milk prices far below the cost of production. I cannot see how this will be sustainable in the long term. The Welsh Government must do more to support the supply chain, build markets and deliver a sustainable milk price for our farmers.”

Paul Davies Supports Scams Awareness Month

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting Scams Awareness Month this July, with the theme "Don't be Rushed, Don't be Hushed". The campaign aims to stop people being rushed into hasty decisions by scammers and to end victims being hushed into silence by a sense of shame, foolhardiness, or weary acceptance.

Mr Davies said, “I’m pleased to support Age Cymru, who is working with Trading Standards and Citizens Advice in Wales to raise awareness of scams during Scams Awareness Month. We must do all that we can to ensure that vulnerable older people are protected from professional scam artists, particularly in our more rural areas where there is a high proportion of elderly residents, who are often socially isolated and over-trusting.”

Paul Davies Condemns Welsh Government’s Local Government Plans

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has criticised the Welsh Labour Government’s plans for local government in Wales, which could see the number of Welsh councils cut from twenty two to single figures. The plans also include a return to the old Dyfed model for people living in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

Mr Davies said, “Bigger is not always better and the proposals brought forward by the Welsh Labour Government do not show any evidence that this new map would result in an improvement in the delivery of public services in Pembrokeshire. Any change in the structure of local government in Wales must be locally-led and representing the will of their local communities.”
