Local AM Attends Meeting With The Chancellor

Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies has recently attended a meeting with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon George Osborne MP at the Treasury in London. The meeting was convened to discuss a number of issues affecting Wales. Whilst in London, Mr Davies also met with the Prime Minister and Welsh MPs.
Paul Davies said, "I was extremely pleased to attend such an important meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to liaise with the Chancellor over some incredibly serious issues affecting the people of Wales. As Shadow Finance Minister at the Assembly, I will continue to liaise with the Chancellor on the issues discussed and work alongside my colleagues to best serve the people of Wales. I also look forward to continue working jointly with Stephen Crabb as Pembrokeshire's local MP to ensure the interests of the people of Pembrokeshire are heard at the highest level."

Local AM Visits PATCH

Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies has visited PATCH – Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship, to help out and to witness their "Basics Bank". PATCH have recently set up a new branch in Haverfordwest, following their good work in Milford Haven and Monkton, to help reach out an even wider number of people in need.
Following the visit to the organisation, Mr Davies was able to see the volunteers in action first-hand. He said, "I have been privileged to visit the new PATCH branch in Haverfordwest and meet the volunteers there. PATCH provides a valuable service to our community by providing food and clothing for families in need. They also launch a Christmas toy appeal every year to try to ensure that all children in Pembrokeshire, regardless of their background, enjoy the Christmas that they deserve."

Shadow Business Minister Visits Pembrokeshire

Shadow Business Minister, Nick Ramsay AM, together with Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies recently paid a visit to Pembroke Power Station and Milford Haven Port Authority. Mr Ramsay and Mr Davies met with Mr Steve Glover and Mr Andy Smith, of Pembroke Power Station, and Mark Andrews, Harbour Master and Deputy Chief Executive of the Port Authority.
During the visits, Mr Davies and Mr Ramsay discussed a number of business issues including enterprise zones, business rates and development plans for the local area.

Local AM Condemns Plans To Cut Surgery

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies has expressed his concern at Hywel Dda local health board's plans to cut non-urgent surgery in the New Year.
Local AM Paul Davies said: "I am very concerned to hear that Hywel Dda health board is considering cutting non-urgent surgery in the New Year. At a time when the local health board is facing a £4m deficit, cutting surgery will only increase waiting lists and drive up costs, which could be avoidable."

Local AM Adjudicates YFC Debating Competition

Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies was pleased to adjudicate the Pembrokeshire Young Farmers Senior Debating Competition. Mr Davies provided a list of eleven topics for debating, ranging from social networking and reality TV to the proposed badger cull and the single-use carrier bag levy.
Local AM Paul Davies said: "I was delighted to adjudicate the Senior Debating Competition and I was thoroughly impressed with the calibre of all the participants involved. Debating competitions are a great way for young people to improve their public speaking and communication skills and their confidence."
