Labour-Plaid Burden Teachers With Excessive Bureaucracy

Welsh Conservatives today exposed the vast amount of paperwork sent to Welsh schools from the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning & Skills every week.

In the most recent academic year 2009-10, DCELLS spewed out 8,468 pages of guidance, policy papers, strategy updates, consultations and statistics to schools, in addition to a series of internet links, newsletters, posters and workbooks.

Wales Lacking Skills for Economic Growth

Welsh Conservatives today expressed concern at figures showing a decline in take-up of modern foreign languages at GCSE and A Level.

In a written answer to Welsh Conservative AM Nick Bourne, the Education Minister confirmed that entries for traditional language subjects such as French and German have dropped by a quarter since 2005, while others such as Italian are down by almost 50%.

Paul Davies Speaks Out at 50+ Conference

Professor Vanessa Burholt, Head of Gerontology, Swansea University, Jane Slade, Chief Officer, Age Concern Pembrokeshire, Paul Davies, Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire, Jon Skone, Director of Social Services, Pembrokeshire County Council and County Director, Hywel Dda Health Board, Cllr David Wildman, Cabinet Member responsible for Adult Services & Care, Beryl Thomas-Cleaver, Chair 50+ Forum.Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has taken part in the 8th annual Conference of the Pembrokeshire 50+ Central Forum. The Conference, themed "Working Together to Make a Difference", looked at how we can support older people within our communities and aimed to improve intergenerational relationships.

Possible Way Forward on Charles Street Parking Issue

Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is pictured on Charles Street, Milford Haven.The recently introduced Civil Parking Enforcement scheme has highlighted the limited number of parking spaces available for shoppers in Charles Street, Milford Haven. Local Assembly Member, Paul Davies has recently been contacted by business owners in Charles Street voicing concern regarding this issue.

Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire Paul Davies said, "I have received a number of representations regarding the availability of parking spaces in Charles Street for 'shop and go shoppers'. I am disappointed to hear that this is causing some people to shop elsewhere."

Enriching Welsh Heritage

Welsh Conservatives today pledged to enrich the heritage of Wales by prioritising culture, sport and tourism.

Shadow Minister for Heritage Mohammad Asghar AM, Shadow Minister for the Welsh Language Paul Davies AM, and Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly Nick Bourne AM, have launched the party's key heritage policies.
