Paul Davies AM Visits Local Citizens Advice Bureau

CAB1Local Assembly Member Paul Davies visited the Citizens Advice Bureau in Haverfordwest recently. The branch has extended its opening hours by six hours per week for face to face advice and has recruited eleven new volunteers over the past twelve months.

Paul Davies said, "I was delighted to visit the local Citizens Advice Bureau. The team here have worked very hard in this tough financial climate to produce a valuable service available to the whole community.


Paul Davies Reselected for the Conservatives

Paul Davies AM Visits Mount Community Farm and Garden

Mount_Farm_1This week, local Assembly Member Paul Davies visited Mount Community Farm and Garden. The farm is open to the public and is located at Freystrop near Haverfordwest.

Paul Davies said, "I was delighted to visit Mount Community Farm, this week. The team here have worked very hard to create a wonderful farm that the whole community can enjoy. The facilities at the farm include fruit cages, small plots of plants and a bottle greenhouse. They have also started to sell items sourced from the farm which is due to expand in the future.


Thieves steal £30,000 statue in Neyland

Last weekend, the statue of Isambard Kingdom Brunel was stolen from the entrance of Neyland Brunel Quay. The statue, which is worth £30,000, is 8ft tall and made of bronze. It is believed to have been stolen between late Sunday evening and Monday morning. 

Local Assembly Member, Paul Davies said, "I am appalled that somebody has stolen this statue as it is of great historical and local importance to the people of Neyland and Pembrokeshire.

Concerns Raised over Report into Public Funding of Ffynone & Cilgwyn Woodlands

A recent report into the public funding of Ffynone & Cilgwyn Woodlands by Forestry Commission Wales has highlighted a number of concerns over community involvement and adequate management.

Commenting on the report, local Assembly Member, Paul Davies said, "It is clear that there are weaknesses in the way that the Cydcoed scheme has been run and the way in which Ffynone and Cilgwyn woodland in North Pembrokeshire has been monitored by Forestry Commission Wales.

Conservative AMs Back Health Professionals

Pembrokeshire Conservative Assembly Members have this week, met with a group of clinicians and former clinicians in light of the documents which have been produced by the local health board recently.

Concerns have been raised by professionals that this is a re-run of the debate which was held four years ago regarding centralisation of services.

Concerns have also been expressed regarding the morale of staff in the health service due to uncertainties.

Local AM Signs up to Campaign that Calls for Further Education Places in Wales for Disabled Students

Scope_Cymru_LetterLast week, Paul Davies AM added his name to a campaign that calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to provide further education places for disabled Welsh students.

At present there are no further education facilities for disabled people - with complex impairments - over the age of 19 in Wales. Disabled students have the option of either travelling to England, where places are limited, or staying at home and not receiving an education.


Paul Davies AM Opens Bird Hide at Mount Woodlands

thumb_Mount_Woodland_1Today, local Assembly Member Paul Davies opened Mount Woodlands' new bird hide. The bird hide is open to the public and is located on the edge of the Mount Estate in Milford Haven.

Paul Davies said, "I was delighted to officially open the new bird hide at the Woodlands today.

Local AM Very Critical of Withybush Proposals

Commenting on the Hywel Dda Local Health Board Rural Health Services Strategy Spend to Save Plan document dated 9th July 2010, Paul Davies AM said –

"I am horrified by this document. To propose that Withybush General Hospital is downgraded to a Rural General Hospital and move vital services to Carmarthen is simply not acceptable. It is what the people of Pembrokeshire fought so hard against four years ago.
